Students at Smith, a women's college, have voted to change the language of their student constitution to replace the pronouns "she" and "her" with gender-neutral terms.
A growing number of students identify themselves as transgender, and say they feel uncomfortable with female pronouns,the Hampshire Gazette reports.
"Smith College is a college for women, and within that there is a place for all kinds of women," said Brenda Allen, director of institutional diversity.
Looks like the old verse ending "Mount Holyoke to wed" will have to be rethought, in more ways than one.
